A large benefit is designed to meet a large, unexpected, and critical need. These events are held once per year in the spring with a rare exception of a smaller event in the fall. If this is something you need, please reach out to a member of our steering committee with details. Please note that because of scheduling, these events may take months to plan and execute well (we're aware there are other groups that can slap them together in a few weeks, we don't operate like that). Recipients and/or their families are asked to help provide labor at these events, typically helping to serve food or at the registration table.
Our small community support grants are designed to help meet smaller, yet no less critical needs in our community. Examples of the types of projects we may fund include the materials to build wheelchair ramps (we provide the labor) following an accident, emergency car repairs for the sole earner in a household, or groceries for individuals who are out of work because of illness. These small grants are capped at $250 and are provided based on a committee review of the application. A new application form is currently being developed and will be available shortly.
Mom needs a new wheelchair ramp, you just need a hand picking it up and getting it installed? Tree fell on the house and the insurance wouldn't cover getting it chopped up and removed? This is the type of activity we love and live for! If you need a hand with something, please reach out to a member of our steering committee and we'll see about getting you the assistance needed.
